This is it, the ultimate J&MC record. All the pop fervour and melodious fuzz that you've come to love. Those nonchalantly angst vocals, simple, drop dead toons and that infectious mind drilling. Primo from go to woe! 17 songs in true Mary Chain style.

I Love Rocknroll, Birthday, Fizzy, typical warming perfection. Hope Sandoval lends another hand on the quirkier Perfume ahead of the repetitive rhythmic noise and unmistakeable Reid vocals of Virtually Unreal and the scorched guitars and psychadelic tinge of Degenerate, as it melts into its own noize zone.

Commercial opts for a more industrial strangulation ahead of the yearning vox and sizzling noise-scape of Supertramp. For my money, though, I can't go past the slow simple seduction of the acoustically-coated drippings of the awesome Neverunderstood or the beautifully low key melodious lure and dynamic surges of Manonthemoon. Black oozes with classic pop essence, and the crazed, scouring irony of Ihaterocknroll's final word puts the perfect icing on the barbed cake.

If distortion is an art form, then The Jesus & Mary Chain are the true mentors of the genre. Excellent.
